Mercari has the worst customer service
I listed a new with tag authentic fashion jewelry item, which comes with the original tag and even authenticity certificate.
This woman (who used another name to make transaction) bought my item and claimed that it was counterfeit after she received it (even though it came with the original tag and authenticity certificate). I knew right away that she's a scammer. After looking her up, I found out her real name and noted that she is apparently the woman who sued her previous company for firing her because her "breasts were too big" - LOL WTF SERIOUSLY?!?!
Instead of investigating the matter, Mercari customer service claimed that my item is counterfeit and allowed her to return it. First of all, they obviously didn't investigate it. I have the authenticity certificate and also the original tag so I don't understand where their decision came from except pure ignorance and laziness in their part.
It took the scammer 8 days after printing the return label to finally ship the item to me. This already raised a red flag. After the item was returned to me, I noticed that the outer box was ripped, the original tag was missing and there were scratches on the item. The scammer obviously used my item and caused some damage.
I have sent mercari pictures of the damaged box and item within 24 hours of me receiving it. However, they cancelled the transaction, fully returned the scammer's money, and deleted my account claiming that I have multiple accounts in one device - this is obviously absurd and bogus because I only have one account.
BEWARE: LOTS OF SCAMMERS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS USELESS. A BUNCH OF CROOKS WORK HERE. DON'T USE THIS APP UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SCAMMED!!!!
